
Icers
Icers is a developmental program that fields teams to play in the Pittsburgh Amateur Hockey League (PAHL). While Icers holds tryouts, its programming seeks to accept as many players as possible onto skill aligned teams.

TRYOUT PROCESS
Ages
While enrollments dictate the age groupings we can support, usually Icers fields teams at the 8U, 10U, 12U, 14U, 16U/18U and 19U age levels.
When
- Late Aug - Practice begins
- Mid Sep (12U-19U) / Oct (10U) - Preseason
- Early Mar - Post season
- Early Apr - Tryouts
Where
Practices are held in Pegula Ice Arena at Penn State University. Dry-land is typically held upstairs in the venue and some times at the nearby State College YMCA roller hockey rink.
Games take place in the greater Pittsburgh Area.
Practices
Weekly schedule:
- 8U, 10U - 2 Nittany Lion Development Program (NLDP) sessions. 1 team practice. (3 hours)
- 12U - 2 NLDP, 2 team practices (4 hours)
- 14U - 1 80 min 1/2 ice, 1 full ice 60 min practice (2.33 hours)
- 16U/18U - 1 80 min full ice, 1 80 min 1/2 ice practice (2.66 hours)
- 19U - 1 80 min 1/2 ice, 1 full ice 60 min practice (2.33 hours)
Games
8U - 8 Jamborees. Anticipate 4 home and 4 away throughout the season.
10U - 6 preseason, 14 regular season, Post season (ODSETS)
12U-19U - 2-4 preseason, 20 regular season, playoffs (performance based)
Jerseys
Players are expected to purchase team jerseys and socks through our apparel provider K&B Outfitters.
Extra Costs
- Optional additional tournaments may be agreed upon by the team and are outside of costs. These will be variable per age and team.
- Warm ups can also be purchased through our apparel provider K&B Outfitters.
